(August, 2001).

In this study, we examine the relationship between attachment style and trauma-related symptoms in a sample of 158 battered women with and without a history of childhood sexual abuse (CSA). As expected, CSA survivors (n=68), compared to non-CSA survivors (n=90), displayed higher levels of insecure attachment and more severe symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The findings suggest that battered women with a CSA history may benefit from more intensive therapeutic services than are typically provided to women entering domestic violence shelters.
